RUNNING IN PREGNANCY

Increased impact on the joints, breasts and pelvic floor during pregnancy, not to mention the increased movement of the abdomen makes this inappropriate to continue beyond around 20 weeks. Whilst some competitive athletes have continued to run throughout their pregnancy it is inappropriate for the average woman to do so. Most women will find it becomes progressively uncomfortable and the risks of continuing outweigh the benefits.
